Once the new basement at the back of the house had been completed, the new addition could be constructed
on top of it. This consisted of two stories on top of the new basement. The original back wall of the
house was left in place during construction to help support the old house. Once the new construction
was completed, the old back house wall was completely removed to allow for a reconfigration of much
of the inside part of the house. Eventually, a new roof deck would be added at the third floor on top
of those two new stories.
