Our fifth stop and last day on the cruise was at Villefranche-sur-Mer, France, where
we had to tender to port. This is a good jumping-off point for Nice or even Monaco,
however we had only a very short day, with the last tender leaving at 1pm. (One of
the factors determining the time in port is the travel time to the next port. This
ship is next doing the same cruise in reverse and we saw that it would be staying
in Villefranche-sur-Mer until quite late.) However, we wandered the town and it
turned out to be very picturesque and we got a good flavor of the Riviera. In a
couple of pictures you can see the Rue Obscure, a covered road which was used for
the old town defenses from about 700 or 800 years ago, and was later roofed over.
