We had a very smooth embarkation onto our cruise ship in Ravenna and the next day our first
stop was in Koper, Slovenia. This was a small town with a strategic importance in the perpetual
battles among the political and religious entities in the region, particularly in the 16th and
17th centuries. We wandered around the old city section, finding much of interest. Of
particular note were Tito Square, the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, and
a hidden gem of a museum, the Koper Regional Museum, an archaeological, history, and art
museum located in a former luxurious palace.
