We flew to Miami on Thursday and stayed 2 nights before leaving on our transatlantic cruise. While in
Miami we Ubered over to visit Viscaya, a huge mansion which is the former villa and estate of
businessman James Deering, of the Deering McCormick-International Harvester fortune. While there
on Saturday we left on the transatlantic cruise that was to last a total of 17 nights and end in
Haifa, Israel. The portion of the cruise across the Atlantic lasted for 8 nights before we returned
to land at the island of Maderia, Portugal. The passengers on the ship were a diverse group. We were
told that only about a quarter of the passengers were American, and hearing all the languages, it
is obvious that the people were from all over. But almost all of them seemed to speak some English,
for example when ordering dinner.
