   Day 12 - Skagen, Denmark

The trip today to Skagen, Denmark, was a bit difficult. The temperature was about 55, there was a light rain, but most of all, the winds were between 30 and 35 mph. Skagen is at the very Northern tip of a long and thin peninsula that juts up into the North Sea. We started the short walk to the small town, but instead gave up and took the shuttle bus. We walked through the old town area, visited the very nice Art Museum and visited Skagen Church. We wanted to walk to the Buried (Sand) Church but gave up. The old church has been buried by the blowing sand since the 1700s and all that is left to see is part of the spire sticking up out of the sand (see the last picture). I was pretty excited when we walked by a store with the name "Holte"!
